This project is based on the 06/2011 Men’s linen shirt #138 pattern on Burdastyle. I sewed it in a mocca brown linen, while my man was watching the finals of the UEFA Euro 2012. (Go Spain!) I had to shorten the shirt quite a bit and added a small hook and eye in the top slit (because my man thought it was too “revealing” ?!). Overall I think it is a classic, casual linen shirt, I really liked the construction with the self-facing front… and last, but not least; my man was happy with it :) (but refused to model it for the pictures -sorry)

Did you make it in the size he would normally wear? Because my boyfriend would wear the largest size according to the measurements chart and I’m looking at the pattern and I feel like even though he’s a big guy, he’d be swimming in it if it were that large.

The sizes are definitely running large! I sewed up the shirt according to measurements and I had to shave off lots off the side-seams.. Unfortunately I did not measure properly when doing it, so I don’t know exactly how much.. But I am pretty sure you can go down at least one size :)
