My take on the Pleated Dress
I have so much fabric and making the choice what would be best for this style, (still not sure if I made the right call) hmmm.. Still pondering over it!
Suggested fabrics were Taffeta and since I have a few meters of a beautiful emerald green thought that would work ok. I generally drape fabric on myself or my dress form to get a bit of an idea how will look. Taffeta can tend to look dressy or formal. Wasn’t the look I was after?I made a bit of a mash up with a few swatches and used the illustration to show how my options looked, suffice to say, this is it! I love blocking at the best of times.
I’ve forgotten where I picked this original Nude/Tree print fabric from. I’m not entirely sure what the fabric even is, feels like waterproof raincoat material. Mixing both taffeta and my nude fabric together didn’t give me great sewing pleasure (very stiff, no give at all). I am a glutton for punishment. I have a bit of both fabrics leftover to make a reversible jacket. Pity I haven’t finished it in time to upload pics with my dress.
I made a belt with a vintage buckle, colour match is pretty close.
