DescriptionI scored this piece of lace print silk garza remnant from elliottbermantextiles.com during their annual 50% off sale. Up to a few weeks ago, the only thing I know about this material is that Kate Middleton’s wedding dress was made of silk garza. So I ordered it more out of curiosity. For a 1 yard remnant listing, I received 50 inches of material, barely enough to make this dress. Ladies, if you haven’t worked with silk garza, this stuff is heavenly to work with. It feels and behaves like a 4-ply organza, opaque, bouncy, light as feather, and drape beautifully. It irons and holds a pleat like a dream. If you make a mistake, you can unpick and it does not show needle/stitching marks. It does not ravel or wrinkle easily. It does not shift or stretch when stitching. Now about this pattern: I only need to make the skirt a few inches shorter to accommodate my petite frame, otherwise, I follow the pattern and sewing instructions exactly. This pattern was beautifully cut , everything fit together exactly as it should. The dress sew very quickly. If you don’t have to match the print like I did with this dress, you can finish this dress in a few hours. I really enjoyed making this dress.
