It feels so good to sew again. Between a bout of personal illness, the holidays, and 80 hours weeks at the hospital, it’s been months since my sewing machine and I got to spend some time together. I thought I would start simple with McCall’s 6570. It was easy as advertised, but what hadn’t occurred to me when I saw the original pattern was that it’s actually a full circle skirt. Which means lots and lots and lots and lots of hemming. Don’t get me wrong, I love circle skirts, but I was unprepared.
I ended up deciding I didn’t like the super wide waist band, so I cut it down to half the width. I also omitted the tulle ruffle on the lining because I wasn’t sure how much extra bulk the skirt could take. Otherwise, it’s a circle skirt plain and simple, and you can never really go wrong with a circle skirt :-)
