Another Mccalls 6197 dress this time in a size 5. I fully lined in a light weight cotton voile giving a beautiful finish on the inside. I added a ruffle to the skirt lining to make the dress nice and twirly to wear. I needed to adjust a large amount of gape on both the front and back neckline which I did by adding a gather detail at the front and tapered the back by an inch. I also cut a wider/lower neckline. I adjusted the lining by pivoting the centre line in at the top by 1/2" inch (or so) for both the front and back bodice pieces. I also had to do this for the other version of this pattern I made in the size 2. I so love the fully lined finish it is worth the extra time. After making two little girl dresses to perfect the technique I am looking forward to fully lining my next dresses for me… Next up for me is the sleeved version of Simplicity 2444 in a vintage green gingham.
Recycled cotton curtain fabric given to me (love the print and it’s a nice weight cotton) and plus some cotton voile for the lining. Invisible zipper and bias trim on the skirt lining.
