I made this dress to honor a birthday date proposed (and delivered) by my beau.
I used pattern Vogue 8280. The fabric is 100% cotton that I bought in pieces at a thrift store in Lexington, SC. Including the pattern this dress cost me approximately $1.50.
I think the waistline is a bit low. For some reason this just doesn’t look quite right to me. I am struggling to make my work exact. It never seems to come out looking tidy.

Inspiring! I’ve got this pattern in my stash but have been put off by by the ‘office’ look versions around the place. This is sooo cute! How hard is the pattern?

I found the pattern to be pretty simple. I think that using an interesting fabric will keep the pattern from looking too “business casual.” I’ll look for your project! And thanks!

I agree with all of the above. So cute and flattering, and for $1.50? Amazing.

I disagree. That waist length is flattering on you. The only thing you might do next time is make the back waist a smidge higher than the front (by taking out a wedge shape on the back piece) to help eliminate that minor wrinkling at the small of your back. The shape of the dress is both interesting and flattering on you.
