An infinity dress made using a maxi skirt rather than the traditional circle skirt. Patterned jersey fabric for the skirt and plain black jersey for the straps. No waitsband (as yet!)
I made the skirt by cutting two large rectangles, using a maxi dress I already had as a guide. my skirt was c.60" round the base of the skirt – I found a tutorial that advised to make the bottom of the skirt wide so that you can walk in it! I then cut two curved triangles out of the top of each rectangle to allow for waist shaping. Sewn together with my overlocker.
No hem added – the fabric doesn’t need it and I thought it might detract from the border pattern at the bottom of the skirt
I purchased both fabrics from Walthamstow market and both for £2 a metre! I used about 1.5m for the skirt and the length of the straps is 2.5m
Sweet dresses, an outfit for a doll, and cute embellishments are fun for the holidays!
