My Juki was being serviced a while back and I was sewing on my backup machine, a Brother. I do not like this Brother much. I bought it in a moment of desperation because my regular machine had broken and I needed something quick to complete an order. I rarely use it. Actually this little top for Nic is the last time I will ever use it because I just replaced it with a new backup, the mighty Husqvarna Viking! My sister sold me hers which was never used. I have always wanted a Viking. I’ve heard nothing but good things about them and I can tell you that they do not dissapoint. I love this machine. But anyway I’m rambling….what was I saying? Oh yeah I made a top for Nic using the lame Brother and small scraps left over from a sheet I thrifted. This stitching came out funky, but will hold. This sheet is magic. I swear. I was able to get two dresses for myself (one a maxi dress) and a top for the bear. AND I still have some really tiny pieces left for who knows what else. Fellow thrifters: if you see a sheet that you like buy it! It is so worth the investment.

Love the dress! I need to make some of these for my daughter and myself and I love the style of your dress. Did you use a pattern or self drafted? Would love to have the pattern for it. Happy Sewing!!!!

It is self drafted and I admit not perfect. I dropped the neckline a bit too far so it’s a bit cleavage-y. Square neckline, elastic waist, skirt is basically a rectangle gathered. In hindsight I would have made it a little fuller. I wont be doing any running in this dress!

Very pretty dress, and I enjoyed the ramblings on the sewing machines, as I ponder on a future investment…
