This is my first attempt at sewing jersey. I’ve always avoided it because I thought it would be too hard. But now I love it (it’s so forgiving :-) Anyways, I made the sweater and the skirt (just a tube basically) and the necklace from some Ikat and silk scraps.
A while ago I got really inspired by smalldose’s sailor top, so I’ve been wanting to do something with stripes as well and I quite like how it turned out :-)
I based the pattern for the sweater on an old t-shirt I had. Then I just cut the front pattern up in different shapes, very easy. Luckily, just when I got to the neckline, burdastyle uploaded this great ‘sew a rib knit band’ tutorial…perfect timing :-)
For the necklace, I just sewed lots of fabric tubes and encased them in some leather scraps that I wound around an old belt buckle…et voilà :-)
Jersey, Ikat, silk, leather, belt buckle

Love the quirky use of stripes. I’ve always been a bit freaked out about using stripey material, but your sweater looks great
