I made this from a free pattern by the designer Matthew Williamson that appeared in the Guardian newspaper website last year. When I started to make it I found the instructions very vague and frustrating so I searched online to see if anyone else had tackled this pattern. All I found was a Burdastyle forum post where others were wondering how the back neckline was finished so I have outlined here how I decided to do it.
After trying it on I narrowed the shoulders by about 1 inch at the top of the shoulder as it was looking a bit “football jersey”somehow. I also shortened the hem a little & the sleeves a lot. The pattern comes in one size only. They don’t give any indication of sizing but I would guess that it was designed for a sample/model size & therefore supposed to be looser than it was on me. I quite like this fit though.
