Description

I made this from a free pattern by the designer Matthew Williamson that appeared in the Guardian newspaper website last year. When I started to make it I found the instructions very vague and frustrating so I searched online to see if anyone else had tackled this pattern. All I found was a Burdastyle forum post where others were wondering how the back neckline was finished so I have outlined here how I decided to do it.
After trying it on I narrowed the shoulders by about 1 inch at the top of the shoulder as it was looking a bit “football jersey”somehow. I also shortened the hem a little & the sleeves a lot. The pattern comes in one size only. They don’t give any indication of sizing but I would guess that it was designed for a sample/model size & therefore supposed to be looser than it was on me. I quite like this fit though.

It looks great, much more interesting than in the pictures of the original (the construction looks very nice)! Thank you for adding further instructions!

Thanks so much for the instructions. I have the pattern also, but found it to be a tad vague. You look quite comfortable and not a bit like a footballer….LOL Cordially, Nehmah
