Description

I made this maternity coat as a Christmas gift for my daughter-in-law who is 5 months pregnant in the picture. She chose a pretty chocolate/dark aqua wool coating from Mood.

http://www.moodfabrics.com/chocolate-dark-aqua-moss-solid-coating-fw12258.html
I used Burda style pattern 7318 and stay true to the pattern instructions with the exception of bound button holes instead machine button holes.
I interfaced the whole coat with ProWEFT Supreme-LIGHT Fusible Interfacing from Fashionsewingsupply.com for added structure, and lined it with Kasha flanel backed satin lining for added warmth.
My son and DIL live almost 2000 miles away so I made this coat with only 4 measurements, chest, shoulder, sleeve and coat length, and no fitting. I think the coat is a little big on her at the shoulder, but she didn’t want to wait.

Material Notes

Wool, Kasha lining.

Hi, this looks great. Will attempt a coat again soon, so thanks for the info on the lining.

What a great gift! It’s really nice. I JUST came back from Joann fabrics and bought a similar pattern Butterick 5685 http://butterick.mccall.com/b5685-products-14757.php?page_id=872 because I really liked the view A. And I also love that it was on sale for $1.40! Can’t wait to sew this one.

Yes they look very similar. I guess yours is the non-maternity version :-)
