This easy to sew sun dress features Maryy’s hot hot heat dress as a pattern. We added straps to the pattern to make the dress more wearable for those who need support, though you can also make it strapless. Just make sure to use an elastic band around the top or to make it tight enough :)
Cotton for self, lace to create the print on the self, invisible zipper and two buttons.

I made this dress for one of my friends and she love it, for me instructions were nice and easy, I did’t sew the zipper it looked awkward.

With most of the uploaded finished dresses the bust of the Maryy Dress is fitting very poorly.

Ok, making this for one of my best friends and NOWHERE does it say you need interfacing until you get to the instructions! Once you see you need it, it says “refer to cutting diagram”. Well I’m looking at it and I don’t know if the 2 images shown are just different ways of laying the fabric pieces or if one is for interfacing and the other for the fabric because both of them utilize the entire pattern. On top of that I went to the store and got everything I though I needed and came back to find that I need interfacing which I don’t have. I’m really not in the mood to drag myself back to the store to get some. I understand the pattern is free but Burda, this is ridiculous.

I just can support DanniiDx. I also had problems with the instructions and in the end i had to cut 8 centimetres from the bust of the dress so that it would fit me. Despite these problems i am very happy with the result and this is a very nice dress.

Hi! I’m new here and I’m also a (sort of) new seamstress…I’m also pregnant and wanted to make this dress so that it would fit me for the next three months! Would anyone recommend using a light cotton knit, like jersey cotton (t-shirt material) to make this dress, so that it would be able to “grow” with me a bit? Thanks so much!

Congratulations!! This dress would be a really cute maternity summer dress. I would suggest making it a little big. You could even cut the front to be fuller than the pattern and do soft gathers. Using the soft fabric like you mentioned would make it beautifully. You know, if your boobs grow like mad (doesn’t happen to the extent mine did with everyone) you could even add a gusset type insert under the arm to make the front more comfortable and to keep you from pouring over the top. Of course, making it exactly by the pattern would fit, hopefully, for awhile. Again, congratulations and I hope you have a wonderful pregnancy.

Seeing as this pattern and instructions were created by BurdaStyle, I was very disappointed at the instructions – some parts were quite unclear and pictures weren’t much help either. Luckily I found my own way of doing things. Not only that, I have had to alter the dress hugely to get it to fit me, your sizes seem to have come up wrong? Although this might just be me. Such a simple and pretty dress – shame the instructions were a let down.

I am a complete beginner, I can sew but I have never made a dress, and this has inspired me. Wish me luck – I hope that I can work out the pattern!

Just finished this dress and I love it (will upload tomorrow) but I’m just trying to work out how to make a more waisted version! Wondering if it would be possible to add a waist panel in, I may have to try it out!

Thank you so much! I downloaded this as soon as I saw it and just printed it out today. I have my fabric lined up and I am just waiting for some spare time to make it.
I am so glad it is FREE! I was just thinking that it has been a while since there were any “free” patterns, and this popped up!
I too was going to make one using Maryy’s how-to, but this took all the guesswork out of it. Thank you BS!

This dress looks so cute! I think it would also work at different lengths and probably would be easy to make it really long, ankle length.

If you look closy the zipper wasn’t sewn properly, or maybe thats just the style (eithor way I don’t like it). The dress is adorable though, cute for spring and summer. Doesn’t really require using a pattern but it will be good in handy for beginners.

Hey Everyone, there is a How To on its way showing you how to make a cool print like this! keep your eyes peeled and keep checking back
Jul 8, 2009, 07.19 AMby katmac
In the materials section, it says “Cotton for self, lace to create the print on the self,” !! That print is handmade? How is it done? Is there a how-to I’ve missed because I would really love to try this technique! It is so beautiful!
Jul 8, 2009, 06.59 AMby benedikta
I added an image from the front without hair covering the straps and a full front.
Jul 8, 2009, 05.01 AMby peaudane
It’s a lovely dress, though not for me… I prefer a defined waist. What I’m really interested in is that beautiful printed fabric! Will there be a how-to to show us how to do that?

Woo Hoo! This is a beautiful dress. I think it will be perfect for me. Cant wait to try it out this pattern. Thanks Marvyy and Burdastyle.
