Description

This easy to sew sun dress features Maryy’s hot hot heat dress as a pattern. We added straps to the pattern to make the dress more wearable for those who need support, though you can also make it strapless. Just make sure to use an elastic band around the top or to make it tight enough :)

Material Notes

Cotton for self, lace to create the print on the self, invisible zipper and two buttons.

Thanks for the pattern. But, can we see the whole dress too? These photos only show us come smaller parts. I can’t just imagine, how the dress looks like.

hey those who want a pic of the straps, click view all. for some reason when you click view all a bonus pick shows up, with the straps showing!!I have been planning to make this dress using Marrys how-to, but you guys have made it alot easier! Not till summer though, but glad all you northern-hemisphere-rs can enjoy it.

Yay! This is one of my favorite patterns from one of my favorite users of Burdastyle :)

I’ve been trying to figure out how to do it on my own, but this takes the guessing out of the equation, THANK YOU! Hehe….

Burdastyle, you rock. And Maryy rocks too. :)

Just one more minor complaint… you have changed the neckline of this particular dress by adding the straps, yet you have 7 pictures… and not one shows the straps from the front… oops?

That being said, thank you for sharing… this dress is adorable and I am super glad you have given us a FREE pattern.

Last but not least, a BIG thank you to Maryy for inspring us all! Keep sewing!

    Hi Everybody,

Sorry, it was a glitch in the system. For some reason there was a crosslinking to another pattern and it showed that price. This pattern is supposed to be free. We are working on the changes, you should see the update soon.

So Maryy did a wonderful job. Could we please get a clear statement concerning the above discussed issue? Don’t get me wrong, i know the site is not running on its own, but as the ladies said, you announced something different.

I totally agree with Kallers and Julietta. It is not fair, while you’ve already said you won’t chdarge this kind of patterns. This ‘little’ default should be fixed. And I think that the great majority of users agree with it

I have to say that I also don’t like that you are now also charging for patterns that are based on member designs. Especially because you clearly excluded those back in January.

Even if it was not based on a member’s design, I think $4.50 for a relatively simple pattern without any variations is a pretty high price.

Wasn’t this dress the winner of a contest (http://www.burdastyle.com/blog/show/599) for which user creation should be turned into a pattern? And didn’t the “new burdastyle” explanation (Jan 6, 2009: http://www.burdastyle.com/blog/show/782) include: “BurdaStyle patterns developed from contest winners will still be free, as will some popular basics and smaller projects.” Hmm. I really don’t mind if Burdastyle chooses to charge for their new patterns, but this seems to go against what we were told earlier. If the $ were going to maryy, that would be another story, but burdastyle is profiting from a user’s design, and that’s just not cool.

Oh, I have almost finished a similar one!I thought about adding straps like this, coming from the sides (not crossed, though), but didn’t do so because it would have required some thinking and therefore some time and I was a little impatient. So this is perfect for me – next time I might do what my original intention was using this pattern : )
