this is a version of the maryy dress made with some crazy 80s fabric i found at etsy. i didn’t use the pattern – i just tried to wing it the way marry said to make it. unfortunately i feel like it came out too puffy. i should have used less material for the bottom part so there would be less gathers. i may go back and try to fix it someday.

hello there, please help me out. I am a novice at sewing, and I just printed out the maryy dress pattern. I would like to ask how much fabric you used for the dress, and do we need just one of each piece? Like the pattern is split into many parts of the dress, and do we just cut out one of each of these on the fabric, or is more than one needed? Please reply soon, looking forward to starting this project!

I like it. Crazy 80’s fabric is great. In the picture, i dont think it looks puffy but the maryy pattern has a gathered skirt. I thought the same thing as you. I may try to make it more fitted next time.
