Sometimes I e-mailed apfelbluete which I met here at BurdaStyle – I am immi – and today we are real virtual sewing-friends. :-)
So many e-mails… little presents to our birthdays were sent by mail (we are from germany but we don’t live around the corner)… we decided to have fun with a shared account here at BurdaStyle:
apfelbluete drafted some vintage-dresses and I was immediatly inspired to try my ‘martha’. Here it is, based on a self made pattern.
My teenager-daughter shot the photos… she gave me a photo-shoot day as a birthday present, so we toured through our city. Some photos were taken in a local furniture-store. She was a bit ashamed
when we met some people she knows and that was why she suddenly hid behind the furnitures. ;)
‘Elegant Impressions’ should be a place where you can see only vintage inspired clothes.

Ist das der Roland in Bremen? :) Ich finde dieses Kleid wunderschön, gratuliere!

Ja genau: Das ist der Roland! :-)

Stunning! somewhat your picture reminds me of the esthetic of a Rainer Fassbinder’s picture (and don’t get me wrong, I am a fan). In fact it comes straight from ‘Martha’ with Margit Carstensen

Thank you! :-) I don’t know Fassbinder’s Martha but I red at wikipedia that she was not a very healthy person concernig her emotional state. ;-)

Martha married the wrong man- that’s the sad story.
But anyway. Fassbinder did better films but I suggest you watch ‘the bitter tears of Petra von Kant’ or ‘Ali-fear eat the soul’, great ones

Thanks Almantika! :-)
In my oponion the dress makes me NOT look slim! But I am very proud about the neckline. And my greates problems are always the photos that is why I think about making my next photos on a dressform.

You are welcome, Immi! And I feel the same way about my photos! I do think the shape of the dress is nice, though, and it’s just the style that makes you feel uncomfortable. I think all of us nowadays are used to better fitting shapes, clothes made of mostly knit materials, etc. That’s why anything not “skintight” makes us feel a little uncomfortable. But I do think the dress looks lovely on you! And the neckline is gorgeous!!!!

Wow, your dress is breathtaking! I love everything about it – I can totally imagine myself wearing this dress. Great job!

Alle Modelle in zwei Varianten: full and slim.

It’s stunning! Wish I could make something like this.

This dress is really, really cool! I absolutely adore the neckline and the really unusual cut of the dress, it is like a vintage jacket and skirt combined into a one piece. The fabric too really works! Fantastisch! (ich spreche ein bisschen Deutsche!)

Actually I am really proud of the neckline and the collar! :)

Orange houndstooth?! Fabulous! The detailing and construction are beautiful, and that pocket is very cool. What a great collaboration project you two have undertaken :)

Boaaaah, Wahnsinn !!

Thank you! I made my own pattern. Sometimes we want to share our patterns, but this one is to complicated.

It’s gorgeous! I love the side pocket, it totally makes this garment unique. Lovely photos! And don’t worry, when I’m getting my photos taken, I run and hide if people are watching haha

“I run and hide…” – Yes it is always hard work to get photos. :-))

It’s lovely! I love the way the pocket (?) is an elongation of the dart. The houndstooth fabric is also great, and the cut is amazing… I’m inspired!

I don’t wanted to make a coat dress, that’s why I cut this side pocket. Sorry… my english…
