Description

I don’t qualify for the summer sewing challenge since I live in the UK, however, I made this summer dress last week and I couldn’t resist sharing since I’m so pleased with how it turned out. I absolutely love this vintage cotton which was given to me by a friend. It came from her mother’s attic.

Like my Kasielle, it’s another franken-pattern. The top is from the Kristen dress but with small pleats, rather than contrasting plackets down the front. The bottom is the Marie skirt. At the last minute, I decided to add in-seam pockets. You can never have enough pockets and the fullness of the Marie skirt hides them well.

I love this dress and the fabric. I, too, think it reminds me of a Liberty print. I’m actually thinking of one of my favorite Liberty prints and it’s called “Thorpe.” Check it out. Beautiful on this dress!

I really like your lovely dress and how you combined the 2 patterns so well. Your vintage fabric looks very much like a Liberty of London cotton lawn which no doubt was a pleasure to sew. What a pity you cannot enter it in the competition.
