I made this costume to wear to my job as a high school French teacher for Halloween 2011. This project took at least 60 hours, but was well worth the time I put into it. I had to sew on the copper trim by hand, and I also had to hem the bottom of the dress and underskirt by hand.
This project required a lot of satin fabric (I think at least 10 yards), muslin for a test bodice and the lining, lots of lace and ribbon, an invisible zipper, and a proper Marie Antoinette wig.

What a lot of effort for a French Halloween! I hope your students appreciated it!
