Description
A dress, designed after the dress described in Kushiel’s Avatar – Jacqueline Carey ©, for a fete of the Midwinter.
All you do is use the pattern of “little black dress” but instead of making the back, you leave the back open and make a halter top dress out of it. Lengthen the dress to the ground, and fill the back with the skin coloured stretch organza.
Take the rose on the back from internet (there’s one at the homepage of Jacqueline Carey) and enlarge it to the size of your own back. According to the book, the tattoo must run from the nape of your neck, down to the beginning of your buttocks. (but if you want it smaller, don’t hesitate to do so)
Print the rose and cut out the details. Press nonwoven black fabric on your black cotton. Place the cut out details of the rose on that and cut out the fabric. Seam the edges a little.
Place the skin coloured stretch satin in the dress and stretch it to your size. Add the rose details to it and stitch carefully.
Put on the dress and enjoy. I suggest you walk the fantasy fairs with either your man, or with people whom you feel comfy with, the dress will draw a lot of (unwanted) attention as it’s so tight, it hugs your curves snugly.
If you need any help, don’t hesitate to leave me a message. I’ll try to put up instructions as soon as possible.
NB: Mara, Kushiel Saga and all references/characters are copyrighted by the original authoress Jacqueline Carey. I don’t make any profit of this besides fun of making and wearing this dress.
