Maneki Neko Costume (Chinese Lucky Cat Costume), 2011.

Height 65 × 40 × 30″.

Fabric, mixed media.

Custom-made Chinese Lucky Cat costume made for Halloween 2011. Wearer has removable head piece and has ‘luck beckoning’ arm movement.

Material Notes

Fleece with mesh overlay.

    Nice costume but it is Japanese, not Chinese.

      Thanks! Yes, both cultures seem to have adopted the symbolism with the coin characters varying from cat to cat.
