In another attempt to slash my stash I ended up with this top. It’s made up of a pair of jeans and left-over jean fabric from a skirt. Inspiration was a Céline jean top that I absolutely fell in love with. I worked without a real pattern, just a basic bodice pattern I had made from my personal measurements. If you don’t know how to make one, you could start with the basic bodice pattern that is offered here at BurdaStyle (link below), for free! Come visit me at my brand new blog where you can read more about it – your opinion is highly appreciated!

Really great top, I have one question though, how do you put it on? Does it have a zipper? Or is the fabric stretchy enough to just pull it over your head?

Thank you! It has a snap button closure (those heavy duty ones you put in with a hammer) on the left side, from the bottom to all the way up under the arm. I was going to use a zipper, but didn’t have one at hand – this ended up really nice though, working well and looking cool. The material has zero stretch in it…

totally awesome, and such a professional looking re-con. Reconstructed garments can sometimes look terrible, but here you can’t tell at allk. Looks brand new – and designer to boot.

This is awesome! Clothes made out of jeans can look frumpy, but this is awesome, I think you have done a great job.

Oh my, I’m blushing, thank you so much. I feel like your praise is a bit undeserved… I probably wouldn’t have come up with those seams by myself, but they were in my left-over denim piece from what was once a skirt… At least I had the eye to see what could be done with it though… :-)

So clever! Perhaps now I finally know what to do with all those too big jeans in my closet.
