Description

The Madison is based on MadisonAF23’s Kangaroo Pocket Dress. Her design was suggested so much by our community that we created a BurdaStyle pattern after her design. The dress features roomy kangaroo pockets and a wonderfully sculptural collar that, if made in the right material, can create all sorts of shapes.

I also thought that member patterns and member-based patterns would be free…Guess that we were mistaken. I like this dress though – very pretty design, though I don’t think the stiff fabric would do much for me either! (I’m fairly slim, though I do have a few curves that just poke out there in some spots, ie, my stomach!!) I think a jersey version would be great though! Can’t wait to see what everyone come up with!!

Wow, I love it! Especially the kangaroo-pockets are very cleverly designed. For the last couple of weeks I’ve been wanting to buy every patterns you have posted!

Thanks R4, I thought I was mistaken about the question of members’ patterns being free; unless, of course all or 80%, at a minimum, of the $5.00 goes to the member-designer. Guess the rank and file members give and we rank and file members pay. Nehmah

I must say I’m a little surprised…..unpleasantly. There was a blog post (posted by Alden) from 04 Avg 2008 named Be a BurdaStyle Design Scout which, among other things, said: You have until this Thursday, August 7th, to submit your choices to us at team@burdastyle.com. Please send us the name of the member, the name of the creation and the URL. From there, we will go through all of the submissions pick out the winner! And there was this other blog post (posted by Burdastyle) from 06 Jan 2009 named Changes at BurdaStyle in 2009 and it, again among other things, said: BurdaStyle patterns developed from contest winners will still be free, as will some popular basics and smaller projects. I like the dress, though.

I really like this! Don’t think it would do much for me in the stiff fabric, but I’m really excited about maybe making a jersey version for winter! I do hope you do this in a plus size though. I still think it would be great if BurdaStyle could do all their patterns in normal and plus sizes. I know it would take a little more work but it can’t be that hard to just add a few more grading lines?

It’s smashing! I looove the collar! It gives the dress identity and makes it so sophisticated. And must say that the photos are fabulous!

An interesting design. Will there be a plus version of either this or last week’s Fatina pattern? Or has BS dropped the idea of sizing above 46? Nehmah
