San Luis Obispo,...
A friend is going to a wedding in her hometown. She saw a pricey dress and asked if I could make one like it for her. It is a straight sheath dress, strapless, dark purple lace over chocolate brown satin, and will have a lighter purple satin cummerbund. I’m adding boning and a waist stay. We did three fittings with the muslin. The first version had bust darts in the bodice, but the final version has princess seams in the bodice and waist darts. It is empire-waisted, but the bones will extend to the waistline. The lace will extend slightly over the top of the bodice and past the hem.
