Glamour Advocate ’Mademoiselle

A fully boned corset, draped skirt and a pleated collar made for Sydney Burlesque Ball 2010

Corset self patterned based on measurements and skirt draped on a dressmaker’s dummy.

(Collar inspired by a gorgeous creation seen on Etsy)

Material Notes

duchess satin in aqua, turquoise and black. thick non-stretchy cotton for the insides of the corset, black polka dotted netting, silver eyelets, black satin ribbon in 3 & 9mm, and tons of plastic boning.

      To be honest, this one took a while. I patterned it myself so there was a lot of trial and error fitting parts together. I think I’d get one done in 10-16hrs if I tried to do the same again.

      Note to self: stitching channels through all the fabric as oppose to building a corset out of separate lining, boning and cover layers is MUCH easier!

      Also, satin (even dutchess) is NOT the easiest material for corsetry…
