Description

I made this dress for our Macau trip soon. Dress code is Qipao for gala dinner; I am quite pleased with the result though I think the color may be a bit too pastel for dinner.
I did not make my usual size 38, I made size 40 instead.. I would say it suits me just fine, I do not want it to be too tight! I did not change anything else for my 165cm height

Material Notes

Japanese cotton for fashion fabric.
Blue linen.
Cotton lining material for interlining.
Cotton bias tape ironed out to make hong kong seam.

Difficulty

Intermediate

The dress dress is beautiful and fits you perfect. Thank you for the pictures and especially the pics of the inside construction. This is on my list for some silk I have from China (I’m a little scared but here I go!). Your pictures help!

I liked your choice of contrasting fabric. Was there any problem with the weight, texture of the 2 materials when constructing? It’s a nice change from the usual Chinese silk creations. You need to make a size larger so you can eat the 8-10 banquet courses!

I made sure blue band fabric was similar weight or lighter than dress main body fabric. Bands have to be interfaced throughout so really fine and soft woven fusible interfacing was what I used. As for interlining for dress I also used very fine cotton.
