Description

After doing a few of these outfits for myself and one for a friend, my husband asked me to do one of those “ensembels” for him too. so i grabed a really lovely woll in dark green with very fine black herringbone and to complet my material list, i added a lightgreen / rose changeant silk for the lining (both the waistcoat and the trousers are fully lined, as the wool material looks great but is a little scratchy) and some really lovely old vintage gold buttons……

after about 2 weeks and a few fittings, this is what came out of it. as i added a vintage helmut lang shirt and a vintage silk tie i really loved, what came out of this work and so did my husband!

i do think, that now it is time to go on and start something new, and i am working on womenswear for the moment. stay tuned for pictures soon :-)

Material Notes

dark green / black herringbone pattern in pure wool
lightgreen / rose changeant silk for the lining

He’s a lucky man to have a husband who will spend weeks working on custom clothing for him! He looks wonderful in the ensemble and it’s so well tailored and fitted to him!

Wonderful job Ralf!!!! YOu have outdone yourself with this one. All my husband wants me to make him is a simple vest to wear around the house and I have yet to make it for him. You have inspired me to get off my duff and get to work on it, thank you!!!! I also have some vintage wool that his mother gave me that she has had stashed for who knows how many years and it is in perfect condition, and the silk lining also. Again…well done!!!!! Happy Sewing!!!

It looks very well made. I hope your husband loves the outfit. And you definately chose the right fabrics. Tailoring always works better in wool fabrics.

hello lauriana! yes, i agree with you. if you choose the right fabric, your effort sewing and cutting the whole thing is paying off much more!

You get better and better with every vest, this one looks completely tailored made, it looks so professional it’s hard to believe it wasn’t made with professional cutting and sewing machines in a suites factory, the pockets are just perfect ( and you made four of them ! ), I’m speechless, your husband is so lucky.
