So, here‘s the story:
At the beginning of March we have this traditional fair, where various crafters from all over Lithuania gather in the streets and sell/swap/etc. everything they make – from wooden spoons to home baked pies.
It happens that I have quite a lot of friends, who belong to the younger generation of these, lets say – artisans and they tend to participate in this event, because it’s a good way to sell your creations or to swap them for something else that you particularly need.
And it was late Wednesday evening when a friend, who makes ceramics, called and asked if I was going to turn up in the fair. I said, I might… And she was shocked by the fact that I was actually going to turn up empty handed! :D I received a torrent of words concerning my hobbies and what I could turn them into. And I promised, that I’ll bring SOMETHING.
It took some time, but before I even could go to bed – an idea struck! About two months ago I’ve made a wallet, based on verypurpleperson’s tutorial (with quite a lot of changes in the pattern, because I needed a smaller one, , but wanted to have a zipped part for coins). So, I took out my notes, made some more, re-drafted the pattern once again and decided (don’t know how or when – the number just came to my head and stuck there) that there should be at least 13 of these useful thingies. And it all began…
I’ve used various linen scraps I had in my stash and it made the work a bit harder (more pieces to cut and to sew), but more interesting, because I could mix variously patterned fabrics together.
There were dark moments in the process, when I thought that it was about time I’ve abandoned the project… But each time I was saved by music and I kept listening to the same album over and over and oveeeerrrrrrrrr again, so that listening and sewing became like breathing – I couldn’t live without it in the end :)
So I thank verypurpleperson for pattern (as a starting point) and the British band Everything Everything, who kept me alive trough this journey.
Cheers.
And I’m afraid – that’s it, just now, because it’s 6:30h in the morning and I can hardly string two words together in my head.
Time for bed. Or… an early breakfast and of to the fair ;)
Linen scraps, zippers, snaps, thread and a lot of patience!

Oh yes, they turned out fine ;) to speak the truth – every next one came better than the last… ;D and the good thing is that I’ve finally managed to master this particular stitch, which allows to hide the edge from view (check the last photo). It took most of the time, but it was worth it, because NOW, now I’ll be able to finish one project in this way, something that I’ve started about a year ago :)
And I didn’t even try to sell, because I’ve exchanged them to handmade ceramics, wooden toys or simply gave them away as presents :D

How awesome is that?! I love it when you manage to master a new skill on your own.
Also, trading them for other items is pretty cool! Got to love that.
Well, get to work on that year old project, I can’t wait to see it!

Yes, trading is the best part ;)
And it’s still winter here, in my country, so I’m rather slow with that lagging project – it’s woolen socks that I need, not a sheer dress! ;D
