A simple jersey top with a very nice ruffle detail in the front.
I was inspired by the “coffee date dress”, designed by elainemay.
I used a basic shirt pattern made by myself and I followed elaine’s instructions for the ruffle.

Thank you so much for your comments!! You’re all so kind :) I’m really glad you like the top, and I’d love to see other versions. As for the tank pattern, it’s really simple; I’ll try to make a pdf and upload it.

A very clever adaption of Elaine’s “coffee date dress” ruffle into something more casual. Well done.

this is EXACTLY what i plan to make on sunday! zooey deschanel was wearing something very similar in navy in a photoshoot and I have a plan all set out to keep my busy on sunday! I’m very inspired now as your top looks amazing! no doubt mine will not turn out as good!!

It looks gorgeous on you! I like that you did it in grey so the ruffle’s girliness is offset a little. Would love it if you posted a pattern for the tank, with or without the ruffle. I’m always wishing for a racerback tank pattern but am not skilled enough to draft my own.

Wow! i was loving her coffee date dress too but i don’t ever wear dresses, and you took the best part of the dress and made it something not dressy!! wonderful creativity. I may have to try something similar :)
