Lovely Laurels

Added Apr 28, 2013

Qld, Australia

After seeing so many versions of the Colette Laurel I decided to make my own, which turned into 3 of my own. The first version is made with white lace and cotton underlining, the second is 100% cotton and the last one is a cotton drill fabric.

Its taken me a while to find a pattern that I could make into this lace version and I am pretty happy with the result considering this was my first time working with lace. I also managed to use French seams, another first! There is only a small pleat at the front and two back pleats so it was really easy to work with the lining to create this dress. I then used the cotton lining to bind the sleeves and around the neck.

One of the dresses was a complete inspiration knock off dress which you can read more about on my blog and see more photos.

I have no difficulty choosing the best. They are all awesome but the white lace is the absolute winner! Anyway, I don’t think that somebody non related to sewing could imagine that the three dresses are the same….. you achieved three totally different looks. Very nice work:)

Thank you so much!! That’s such a lovely comment you have totally made my day. I am so glad everyone likes the white lace version I didn’t even expect it to turn out to be the highlight of them at all. :)

Maybe you didn’t expect it, but it turn out ot be a very elegant dress, it looks as if you bought it from an expensive boutique.
I looked at your studio and I see that you like to use the same tested pattern many times…this is one of my favorite things to do too!!
