Description

This set was loosely based on 1930s undergarments – namely, tap pants and chemise tops.

The top was based on a pattern by Megan Nielsen

The shorts were drafted from an existing pair of pjs. You can see that I had to add some gussets at the hip as I did not stretch the waistband as I was measuring! The addition of lace on these panels hopefully makes them look more deliberate than accidental.

The raw edges were finished with a zigzag stitch, whereas the arms and neck holes were finished with bias tape.

NOTE: I am unsure about the fabric type as it was purchased a long while ago. It wasn’t the best fabric as it lacked drape, creased and frayed easily..

Material Notes

satin?, lace, ribbon

Aw thank you :p I just finished uni so I have lots of time now

I was thinking of making a 50s style t-shirt dress. The top will be based off this pattern http://www.burdastyle.com/pattern_store/patterns/52010-peplum-blouse – I’ll remove the sleeves and peplum waist

    Any tips? :)

Thank you :) that’s sweet of you. This is the first thing I’ve posted here, so I was a little nervous!
      I’m still a beginner :x

If this is your first project, I guess that means we can expect some pretty amazing things from you in the future ;) What’s next in your sewing queue?
