Description

I’m working from the pattern Burda 8187 which includes 3 styles on athletic workout pants/shorts. I’ve made them before with a ribbed knit, but didn’t buy enough fabric, so they are now long shorts.

I completed the long work out pants and made a few changes/cheats. I didn’t add the ribbon, as I found it pretty hard & took some time. Also, I didn’t quite understand the sizing & fit so the size I made fits very close to the body so it would be hard to wear anything underneath which I like to do sometimes. Due to the fit, I didn’t bother using a drawstring as the elastic works fine on it’s own.

I will definitely use this pattern again in a larger size and also include the ribbons on the side.

Material Notes

black polyester, ribbon, elastic, drawstring

Burda pattern for this type as I am trying to sew shorts without ribbon which I do not like, is confusing. I’ve read the instructions over and over, and trying to put pieces together, I did put pockets alright, but 2 front and 2 back pieces just seem can’t cross my mind. Instructions are poorly written and it is first time I bought Burda pattern, otherwise I normally buy Simplicity or other brand I find quite easy to follow. Have been sewing for the past year and I enjoy it very much. I am just at loss how to put these pieces together.. I am trying to sew C type shorts there are: A) long pant style, B) below the knee sorts and C) shorts (this is the one I am working on. IF there’s someone who can email me and give me a brief guide how to put pieces together I would be grateful. I am not giving up and I am going back to study the intruction and try to pieces fabric together.

All I have is the unwashed fabric, but I’ll look into adding a picture of my previous attempt.
