A silk dress which I made for my wedding. It’s made of Italian silk – and believe me my hands were shaking when I was cutting it. I was totaly scared of spoiling anything. In the daylight the colour is more burgundy – like wine. I used an old Burda pattern (5/2008) but I had to seriously re-size it plus I modified the sleeves.

Hi there, did anyone find out what pattern this is? I’d love to try it out! Just beautiful.

Beautiful dress! Pattern was published in Burda 03/2008 No. 116 German Issue and is based on a dress Wallis Simpson wore when she got married to Edward, former King of Great Britain, in 1937. Probably, it may be in a special issue of German Burda sytyle focusing on bridal wear. It is announced in the Burda style mag. 03/2011 that this issue will be published by the beginning of March. Let’s hope for the best.

The elegantly feminine silhouette makes for a sophisticated look. Your finish is very professional. Using high quality fabrics makes all the difference in creating beautiful garments and you have demonstrated this in making this dress. I love the sleeve/neckline combo.
