Description

I have been desperate to make the leg-of-mutton top since I first saw it on here. Now that I have an overlocker I decided to give it a go. I started out with the lydia pattern and made it two sizes too small so that it was snug. The pattern drafting went quite well although I may have over done the sleeves a bit. I also failed to run a gather stitch on the area under the bust (too lazy to move my overlocker off the desk and put my sewing machine on). This is the first thing I have made on my new overlocker and I have already developed a love/hate realtionship with it, it’s so tricky getting the tension just right on all 4 threads and also balancing the stitch length and bite and differential feed. I am going to remake this and do the underbust bit correctly and also change the neck shape.

Material Notes

Yellow medium weight jersey.

I think your top came out really nice. The style and shape really suites you. And you aren’t the only one with a love/hate relationship with thier overlock :~ ( I tried to punish mine for a month and not use it. But I just couldn’t ignore it any longer and gave in after 4 days.
