This project was inspired by the Lace Sleeve Dress from last month’s issue of burda style magazine. I love to work with silhouettes that serve as a minimalist palette for fabric play. An LBD may be monochromatic, but I found this to be the perfect opportunity to mix textures, so I chose an Italian basketweave wool and guipure lace for my scalloped edge sleeves. I used horizontal seaming on this dress from the bodice panels to the top of the skirt as it adds to its architectural and structured form. This dress has the warmth of a nice, cozy sweater!
Basketweave wool, guipure lace, 24" invisible zipper, fusible interfacing, coordinating thread
