Little Bitty Pretty One

Added Oct 5, 2013

Warwickshire, Un...

The pattern is Simplicity 2971 from 1959. The fabric used is a red & off white polka dot cotton with the contrasting colourway for the large protrait collar. The seams are all stitched & pinked, the hem is taped with an off-white seam tape & hand stitched into place. I used an invisible zip, about 7cm longer than the one they suggest to make it easier to get on & off.

Daughter No2 really loves this dress, & this one is not for sale! She gets to keep it. For more photos & information, visit Vintage Belle

This is absolutely fabulous. I would scream the house down if you tried to sell this on me.

lol!! There is another colourway of this for sale on my etsy shop! I am beginning to wish though, that it had been navy & white, rather than white & navy!

I was thinking of making the Butterick Pattern 5747, which is similar to your dress here. Great idea on the contrasting collar! It inspires me.

That’s a great little pattern too, with all the advantages of being re-printed with multi-sizes! Looking forward to seeing your dress.
