I sifted through the current burda easy fashion magazine and saw this beautiful blouse I sooo wanted to make. When I bought the fabric, I thought, well, this is different, but it sure looks dashing…
It took me 3 days to sew, and a lot of mistakes happened, but in the end, I was finished and happy, or so I thought .
When I put this on, I just look like a huge cupcake and I have really no intention to wear it that soon.
At the dress form and with my vest, it looks fine, but on me? no way .
Maybe it’s the huge sleeves, the bright color or the bow is too much, I don’t know.
But the thing is, I don’t really want to take it appart again. My mum suggested, I could wear it as a pyjama top…ugh
so maybe you guys have an idea, what I could alter or wear with it, that it looses its…volume ^^
I’m open to alternatives =)

what about changing the sleeve, maybe a butterfly sleeve or a crossover sleeve would be nice take down the volume some, but it is cute love it with the vest. i do under stand that all that fabric at the top, the sleeve the bow over take the simplicity of the blouse, so maybe by changing the sleeve that would help you to like it better.

All your comments remind me of, how wonderful the internet can be =)
I took a risk and wore my blouse this weekend when I went with a friend to a coffee shop.
One could actually only see the bib part with the bow and the hem under my vest (I didn’t tuck it in this time). To conceal the sleeves I took a dark blue cord blazer and wore my favorite black shorts with black tights and my black hat…so everything was dark aside from the parts of the blouse one could actually see.
and…I liked it ^^
In the coffee shop I pulled the blazer off, if I was attracting attention with my monster sleeves i didn’t notice cause the conversation was absorbing =)
I really wanted to take a photo, but the battery wasn’t charged
.So THANKS!!! you are amazing, you really are =)

Like skwarynia said, I think just accentuating your waistline and wearing something like a pencil skirt with it I think might work. Also, I have a bad habit of tucking everything under high waisted skirts/pants which restricts the volume and cupcake-ness in where it serves feline curves best ;)
I absolutely love this blouse – I’m sure a bit of a play with the rest of your wardrobe will give you ideas on how to wear it.

ooooo i love this fabric! I would so buy this top in a shop if it was in the right fabric. I love the pattern so much, its so me! You did a really good job of the blouse and the vest looks really good with it. I dont really have much advice, it would be easyer if I saw it on. But you could try putting in elastic under the bust and then maybe you could try some at the hem. Because a belt would be destracting from the bow, the sleeves and the buttons so I think no to a belt.

Oooohhh I love this pattern, I want it so so much!!! I would buy that top from the shop with the right fabric. It is so my type of blouse! You did a really good job of your top and putting it with that vest looks really good. Though I dont have any advice to do with the biggness of it. I know what you mean though but I could only help if I saw a picture of it on. I love the black buttons, they are so cute!

Well for me it looks really great and so sweet, but if you say it doesn’t on you… You should try my trick-i do it always when something appears to be much more bigger- just put the elastic [or normal] belt under the bust and I’m sure it woild lookmore better. And the belt should be black I think. Just look at this: http://www.burdastyle.com/projects/forget-me-forget-me-not?image=66353 with the belt it looks good, but without it is too loose and just… not for me:) Try this trick:) And if you don’t have this type of belt look at this http://www.burdastyle.com/projects/hand-made-zipper-belt and try to make one:) Buy some elastic band and voila!:)

maybe I just wear it with a sign going with it, where is written: Yeah, I look kinda huge and like I’m attending a sleepover, but I sewed it myself and refuse to take it apart again, nuh-uh!

it is really cute! whenever i encounter a project where a puff sleeve looks too huge, i would substitute it with our JJ pattern’s more moderate version :) but i do like how the sleeves looks here, it just isnt flattering on a lot of people.
i love the fabric pattern though!

I love the cut and pattern of the fabric, it’s adorable! I hope you’ll feel well in it some time, because it would be a shame not to let anyone see it, though I can understand about the arms. Mine would certainly have looked huge in that blouse. But it’s loevely anyhow:)

It does look pretty on your dress form, but I can imagine how putting arms in those sleeves would make them voluminous! I think one reason yours is more voluminous is because your fabric does not drape as much. But I still think it might be wearable. Maybe, tucked in a high-waisted skirt?
