The seven year itch… Blouse 131 in Burda Style magazine May 2012 issue.
I have varied the project slightly by adding lace at the front and using linen instead of embroidered batiste. I have also changed the darts for a better fit, as seen.
The top was made in UK size 14 and mum is now the proud owner.
I used pale blue flower buttons at the back.
Perfect for very hot summer days.
100% linen, stretch lace, 6 buttons and silver satin bias tape

I love this. The top looks like it would be so comfortable and cool. I especially love the lace and am feeling the itch to start a new top :)

Go for it! Takes less than a day if you have the fabric and lace ready!

You’ve made such a simple blouse quite elegant. Nice work. Did you use French seams?

No, I didn’t. But now that you mentioned it, it would have looked very nice! Linen is a nice and tidy fabric, and I overlocked all seams wit a zig-zag. I haven’t got an overlocker, just a simple machine. Although it never works on jerseys, it look really neat on non-stretch fabrics such as this. Thank you.

I don’t have a overlocker either. I don’t think it is necessary. With jersey I trim the seam allowance severely and then zig zag over what is left.

I love this pattern. I made one in embroidered eyelet fabric. Thank you for this lovely inspiration. I would love to try a linen version. :-)

I have seen it. Gorgeous! There we are, we do not need expensive, rare pattern to create something really practical and elegant. :-)

The project is based on Embroidered blouse 05/2012. Unfortunately, I cannot change it, a different pattern comes up!

Very pretty Irina. Your Mum looks lovely in your top. What beautiful lace and so perfect for linen.

Thank you! I made the skirt, too :-) She find it quite difficult to find clothes to fit because she is quite petite. The pattern in the magazine is quite short, indeed. I simply used the length indicated there.
