I fell in love with this book at first sight, just looking at the tiny cover photo on a magazine, called “フェミニンワードローブ (Feminine wardrobe)” <http://bookweb.kinokuniya.co.jp/htm/4579112903.html>. My dress is made by the pattern of the very picture on the cover, and I love how a big bow lies across the front! It’s not too cute because the bow lays flat as it is part of the bodice. The reversible linen did a great job.
But the sad thing was, with many wide pleats on the front and back, the volume it creates is definitely unnecessary for a not-so-slim me. Which means, those of you who feel the opposite, who wants to look more curvy and hide their skinniness, should be the perfect model for the dress! Also the balance should suit best for taller ladies (and this is not a matter of length but it’s the design that requires some hights) so being small, I’m forced to wear with really high heels, or if not with a wide waist belt. Otherwise, I’d look like a jeune fille.
Having that said, however, I’m still hopeful about the dress. Don’t you think this makes a lovely maternity dress? I’ll keep it till then! Also, maybe I can try making it with fancier materials like wool or silk next time. It’s easy and fun to make for beginners like me, and fits perfectly around shoulder to bust area, making you wonder if you had sewn a zipper on the side! (No buttons, hooks, nor zippers, hurray!)
I knew I’ve seen it before and have found it finally:
embaby has her dress of the same patten posted here <http://www.burdastyle.com/projects/nani-iro-tunic?all_images=1#project-shot-all>. Hers is very summery and pretty!!
beige linen (cotton included?) , relatively heavy, right side-gingham, wrong side-polka dot. elastic band for sleeves.

I love the combo of mini polka dot and gingham. Are the dots on the reverse of the fabric?
