Simplicity 1692: Misses vintage 1940’s tops have darted waistline. A, B with bias-bound jewel neck has long or short puffed sleeves; kimono sleeve C, D has buttoned shoulders and jewel or scoop neck. American Sewing Guild.
This is a fabulous little pattern. The instructions are very clear, there are not many pieces to contend with, and there are no construction surprises to be found.
As with most of the vintage reproduction pattern I have come across, I love this pattern! I have a serious lack of separates in my wardrobe, and this is the perfect way to correct it.
I swapped button loops for the machine buttonholes in the cuff pieces. I should have shortened the cuffs as well, but I forgot until I had completed one of the sleeves, so I left it as is. As I generally have to take length out of cuff pieces, I should have known better.
Because of limited yardage, the only way to fit everything on my fabric was to cut the bodice back in two. I added a seam allowance to the center back seam, which eliminated the need for the facing.
When I make this up again, I will add 1" to the length.
And I will absolutely be making this one again and again!
As always, more photos may be found over on my blog, Lilacs & Lace.
