Light Cotton Summer Dress

Added Aug 19, 2008

by eleysanne

San Diego, Calif...

I made a light summer dress with cotton fabric yesterday. I modified a pattern I had in my stash from way back. I’m excited about how the seams came out because they look so neat — I got inspired by a How-To about French seams.

Material Notes

cotton fabric, three hand-made buttons, one 30 cm zipper

I think I bought the pattern about 12 years ago in Germany. The brand is called “Neue Mode Stil” and the pattern is from the “Young Collection” number M 22667.

If you can’t find it, you could modify a pattern for an empire waist dress. The top part for dress C is really just an off-the-shoulder shirt-like piece. It has an elastic band in the neckline (or you could pull a thin ribbon through a tunnel). Then you can sew on the bottom part of the dress. Let me know if you give it a try!

It’s a very pretty summer dress. I think the combination of the pattern and fabric is great. Good job!
