I joined a “Miss pageant” competition for fashion dolls and this was the first thing we had to make – a swimsuit. I chose to do something vintage-inspired, even though the judges pointed out that it’s not exactly like the swimsuits from 50s and 60s… so yes, it’s just an inspiration. It closes in the back with a loop and bead; and I had to add a slit in the back because the material was less stretchy than I expected. The judges also pointed out to me the neckline was higher than it should be… so those are the mistakes. Still, I like it. I think I’d never made such a precise work for dolls before.

Really great! I’m sure it wasn’t easy to sew such a little thing!

I think the worst part was turning it the right side out (I sewed two layers together, because the fabric is thin and slightly see-through.) Most of it is handsewn, which is better for Barbie clothes.
