I joined a “Miss pageant” competition for fashion dolls and this was the first thing we had to make – a swimsuit. I chose to do something vintage-inspired, even though the judges pointed out that it’s not exactly like the swimsuits from 50s and 60s… so yes, it’s just an inspiration. It closes in the back with a loop and bead; and I had to add a slit in the back because the material was less stretchy than I expected. The judges also pointed out to me the neckline was higher than it should be… so those are the mistakes. Still, I like it. I think I’d never made such a precise work for dolls before.

I love the swimsuit. Is it possible to get a tutorial for the suit? Thanks

Well, I’m not sure about tutorial; I made it a long time ago and I do not plan on making another one anytime soon. But I dug up the pattern recently, so if I remember, I could put it up…

Oh, thank you & no worry. Busy is good, I think. Loved seeing your creation one more time! I was just given a tiny beach chair candle holder for Mother’s Day. She would be perfect addition to that setting!

I LOVE this! I am a fan of dolls and also making girlie clothes based on what dolls wear. I am a vintage person (literally-ha!) and I rate it “excellent.”The stitching straight & neat. Such a sweet concept-the pageant. Goodness, the judges were a bit harsh. May I encourage you to make more things like this? It’s a winner in my book!

Huh, I somehow missed your comment!
I’m a bit busy with other things as of now, but I surely want to make more things for dolls, and I like this style.
And the judges were harsh, but I actually rather liked that – most of the time it was constructive, at least for me, showing me where I could get better.

Really great! I’m sure it wasn’t easy to sew such a little thing!

I think the worst part was turning it the right side out (I sewed two layers together, because the fabric is thin and slightly see-through.) Most of it is handsewn, which is better for Barbie clothes.
