I wanted to make something unique for my friend’s baby shower, and decided to use a picture frame tutorial from a “Quick Stuff to Sew” magazine by Threads. With the exception of my machine’s tension going all wacky halfway through the project, this was a pleasantly easy project – it’s all straight lines and right angles. It has a lot of possibilities, too. You could really “stash bust” on a project like this. I followed the magazine’s suggestion of making scrap flowers, and I added little sports buttons to go along with the nursery’s theme. A piece of cardboard keeps the frame sturdy. I’ll definitely be making a frame or two or twenty for myself and friends & family!
This was made with four “fat quarters”, though I really could have gotten all of the pieces out of two, and if it weren’t for the embellishments on the front, you’d only see one. This is a good project for using up scraps, too.
