EASIEST PROJECT EVER! Put a belt on a fabric donut, et voila!
At one stage of my adolescence I wrote a list of things I would never ever wear. Leopard print was number one on that list. Polka dots were close behind. Only recently have I begun to realize the grievous error of my ways. I mean, really! I saw a video by one of my YouTube faves Leighannsays in which she serves an adorable leopard print skater skirt that I could NOT get out of my mind. I’d also been dying for a skater skirt to wear with my new black, yellow, and orange crop sweaters, and it hit me the magical power leopard print contains to look fantastic with virtually ANY solid color. It’s a new day in my style life! I think of this look as sort of Cher Horowitz meets Gwen Stefani circa 1995.
*My version is high waisted, yes. The extremely simple “how to” is diagrammed in my pictures. Literally just draw two arcs! Little arc = waist measurement/2 pi Big arc = desired length from waist. If, like me, you can barely draw a straight line a super neat trick is to stick a hole through your measuring tape at the right place, put your pen through it, hold it taut and trace!
Cheapo silky polyester leopard print (which looks awesome but sucked to sew — pick a fabric with less drag!)
Zipper (wish I’d used an invisible)
Fusible interfacing for belt
Wrights flexi-ace hem tape
