Description

I made this swimsuit for my cousin. She recently had a baby and wanted a swimsuit that would cover the belly area to conceal what I call “Miracle Marks” aka stretch marks lol. She couldn’t decide if she wanted a retro or modern swimsuit so I tried to blend old with new and this is what I came up with. She pick the fabric print and loves it and can’t wait for Spring/Summer to arrive. I used the Burdastyle pattern Satin panties and bustier 01/2012 #127. Using just the panties pattern I made this one piece swimsuit. I did go one size down from her regular pattern size to accommodate for the stretch factor of the spandex material. The front of the swimsuit is sort of retro while the back is more . Just something I was trying out.

Material Notes

I used Lycra/Super Stretch Jersey, 4 way stretch Activewear plus lining and swimwear sewing elastic.

This is fabulous! And thanks for the point re going down a size. I have just printed the pattern and it looks HUGE (even though it doesn’t have seam allowances). No-one else seems to be talking about the pattern running large but I know the last Burda dress I made was big too so I am going to go down a size or 2 too!! Love the fabric you used and how you modified it. Fab

I have the fabric & the design, but my sewing machine is about 25 years old & last time I tried it didn’t want to cooperate, lol… I’m planning to buy a serger & maybe I’ll borrow my mom’s machine. Can’t wait to see your 2 pc :)

This is a really nice swimsuit, I’m sure she will enjoy it. I really want to make a 2 pc for this S / S but I don’t know if my machine will be able to handle it :-/

Thank you. I love swimsuits and have become obsessed with making them myself. Why do you say your machine won’t be able to handle it? I say get a cute fabric print and go for it. Now I want to make a 2 piece also lol. Can’t wait to see yours.
