Have you ventured into making or designing swimwear yet? Mixing and matching tops to bottoms seems to be a method of choice for those who wish to personalize their swimming costume. We chose a string bikini top, made a slight variation on it, and paired it with a free bikini brief pattern. With these two pattern downloads and tutorials you may find that constructing swimwear is not as challenging as you may think! Follow this link for more swimwear patterns and DIY swimwear tips.
*Note: The bottoms pattern for this bikini has been updated.

How do you download the free pattern? I tried yesterday and today but all that’s available is the instructions.

I’m thinking the folks at Burda just dug out an old pattern from 1992 and put it on a cute, hip model. Those bottoms are seriously dated and unflattering. Too bad! It would have been a fun project.

I think the bikini is OK, the pattern not bad, but with this model it doesn’t look flattering or beautiful. Honestly I think that the panties are too high, and too deeply cut, and the bust part in the case ot this model have too much fabric.

I love the versatility of bikinis. A couple of different tops and a couple of different bottoms, and voila: a whole set of bikini-opportunities. Thank you for posting the link to the free brief undies. There’s also a link to a nice free bikini-top in the recent blog post about swimwear, if anyone’s interested!

I agree. And she’s perfectly normal weight-wise. I do think this bikini and her are not the perfect match though (which doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with either the model or the bikini, it’s just a bad match).
