This is a simple bag, big enough to carry my notes and a bottle of water.
I tried to draft and upload a pattern for it, i think it came out quite good.
My bag is the longer version, but i marked a line in the pattern, where you could shorten the bag.
Seam allowence is 1,5cm (5/8) included in each piece. Just cut, interface and sew :)
Have fun!
cotton, interface, velcro/ snap/ button, I'm sorry, I'm not able to say something about the amount of fabric, I used scraps of Tilda-fabric.

I AM TRIING TO FIX THE INSTRUCTIONS – But since nearly 6 months there is a internal error. I always decide to try if the error is fixed next month, then forget about it and sometimes this “there was something abotu the instructions to fix” thougt comes up and I try again. So you realy have to look up in the comments below, we already dicussed some pattern-issues. The main issue is, that I marked all pieces to be cut on fold, which was wrong.
The pattern for the bag body needs to be cut out on a single layer, then flipped over to cut the second piece.

Hi, I have just made your lena bag but for some reason I couldn’t link the pattern, anyway I have called mine trews and shirt bag as I used old trousers and shirts to make it. Its a great pattern and I will definitely use it again so thank you for putting on here for us to use.

929 downloads but nobody made it? I’d like to get some feedback on this pattern, since it’s my first one :) And I’m curious about pictures if someone made it?

I am trying to make it but the directions have confused me. I sewed together the liner pieces right side facing and the outter bag pieces right side facing, along all edges but the curved edge and the top of the strap. Now I have an outer piece and and a lining piece and cannot figure out how to get them together. What did I do wrong?
*update …. took a bit but I figured it out. Just an FYI, if you follow the instructions as written you are doomed to fail. The pattern for the bag body needs to be cut out on a single layer, then flipped over to cut the second piece. If you double the fabric to “cut 2” per the instructions, then sew them right sides together, it will not be possible to fit the bag and liner together properly. The instructions really need to be clarified to include all the details. A picture showing how the pieces need to be put together would be much more helpful than just saying “sew outer bag pieces and liner bag pieces together”. Also, on the straps, again the instructions just say to sew right sides together. No mention that you need to sew 2 pieces togethether at the short end, so that from your 4 strap pieces you get 2 long pieces. Then sew those 2 pieces together, turn, and proceed.
I love this bag, but the way the instructrions are written causes a lot of frustration and wasted fabric. You need to include ALL the little details, especially those that are critical to the bag being assembled properly.

Oh No! Sorry! I just marked your comment as inappropriate :( I didn’t mean to! Your comment is very helpful! Thanks a lot! I clicked to reply but missed the button – silly me!
I guess my mistake is to just think “oh – this is just like evey bag is sewn together – people will know about this….” So I missed some steps…
I cut the lining fabric single because I only had a little fabric left – but I thought it should be possible to simply cut it double.
For the pictures: I tried my very best but it realy isn’t that simple to capture the important things all the way throug.
So for short:
Cut the lining single!
You need one long handle sewn together out of the 4 strap pieces.
I’m tired and since school started and I’ve got a lot of work to do, I’m not able to fix this right now. Our next holidays are in october, so I’m pretty sure I’ll fix the pattern then.
Again:
Thank you for your help – Since I know how I would sew the pattern I’m not able to act like I wouldn’t to find all the little mistakes there could be :)

No problem on the inappropriate mark, as long as I did not actually insult you! I certainly did not mean to. I love your pattern, and I am sure there a lot of people out there that would like to make this bag. I have been sewing for over 30 years but believe it or not I have never made a bag like this, so I was convinced that I had messed something up! I finished my bag and it came out really nice. I will post a picture as soon as my camera charges back up. You should be very proud of yourself for coming up with this pattern.
