I’ve made this bag before in canvas (view the tutorial here), but now I turned it into a leather version. The good thing is that the bag has two pockets now, a tiny one on the outside and a larger one on the inside. It’s a very minimalist, yet practical design, because the bag closes automatically when you pick it up.
Since leather is so expensive I use reclaimed leather from a furniture maker nearby. I actually like it that the leather shows variation in color and texture.
And if you want to know more about working with eyelets: I wrote a blogpost about it today.

Echt een coole tas, ik vind dat minimalistische echt heel gaaf. In denemarken waar ik een tijd gewoond heb, zou je hier wel 500 euro voor kunnen vragen! Mooi!

This bag is so gorgeous. Ive used this pattern a couple of times as christmas gifts using canvas and upholstery vinyl (cause I couldn’t really afford the leather). I should probably make one for myself too, its quite a cute and simple pattern and would love to try the leather version.
How did you find the leather -did you approach the manufacturer or were they advertising that they were selling it?

Hi Natalia, I asked at a shop where they sell leather goods. The lady gave me the address of this manufacturer. It’s always like that, somehow you have to find the right persons to ask questions like these :-)
