This is so bad ass, I love it. I want one, but I don’t have the skills to sew with leather yet. One day…one day, LOL.

You have made a great leather top and I am sure it looks great on you. I really like your choice of pattern to sew up the leather – very stylish as well as being classic. You will enjoy wearing this top for years!!

This was a simple top to make, and very trendy too! The only challenge was sewing with leather which was new to me. It was important to make a muslin, since needle holes in leather are un-fixable. You have to be perfect the first time! I made three muslins. I started with a size 42 which was way too big. I finally settled on a size 38 which was much better. Baggy leather looks sort of meh. I used a regular machine needle since my leather was very thin and soft. I used copydex, applied thinly with a water colour brush to glue the seams down. It’s important that whatever glue you use is pliable when dry. I used my iron with NO steam on the silk setting and had a thin tea-towel over it, when I pressed. Finally I used a roller foot. Although it was still difficult to sew over the gathers and junctions where seams met.
