Description

This is my first attemp at sewing with leather on my sewing machine. I have been wanting one of these corset style belts, but they are always sooo expensive. I bought a leather remnant for $25. I finished the project in 2 hours. The hardest part was being very accurate with the topstitching.

Thank you for suggesting Lens Mill Store!! I live in Vaughan and I have been trying to find somewhere close-ish other than fabricland (which is way too expensive) for good fabric

That belt is beautiful!!! I wish time would come soon when I learn to sew enough to even think of making something like that!

Wow, your first time working with leather and you made that – that’s fantastic! I steer very clear of working with leather as it scares me a little – but your belt is inspiring!

It actually was very easy…but for the next project I will buy some leather needles(i used a denim needle for this) also I am going to buy the proper thread. The thread I used broke a few times which is very frustrating when topstitching. The leather I used was pretty soft, this helped. I hope you give it a try!

Oh – ein Oby-Gürtel! :) Well done… especially the fact that you succeeded in using real leather. Bravo! I like these belts a lot but I think they don’t fit me. :(

This is awesome!! This would have been a much better use for my repurposed leather pants.

There is a place near me that gets all kinds of “end of the roll” stuff. They had leather for $25 per pound. Its called Lens Mill Store.

My, my, this is soo cute! I have yet to attempt leather, but this is a super cute way of adding a hot belt and practicing with the medium. Kill two birds with one stone!
