Did you purchase the pattern or is it original? I have been looking for tutorials or patterns for just this thing for a client. Although I plan on making his in black wet look vinyl with a matching bow tie. Cumberbund… pleated rectangle…. sounds simple enough. Or is it? I hardly ever do men’s wear but I want this client to be the belle of the ball this Mardi Gras season. Yours is so lovely and exactly what I was looking to do for him.

This was my original pattern, but several companies make a cummerbund pattern complete with a bowtie to go along with it. Just a tip on the bowtie: It will have to be a clip on, I’ve learned from experience that vynil and leather goods don’t tie well when using a standard pattern.

Love this! Just today my friend and I were talking about his wedding that is coming up and we said that his partner and him should wear leather cumberbunds with their Tux just to give it a little more style/personality.

Ha, yes they should. It looks interesting with a regular tuxedo. It fools your eye into thinking it’s a regular cumberbund from far away, but up close you figure out what it is.

I guess I’m a traditionalist, and see that cumberbund better situated over a black jock strap, and under a leashed collar.

As for that shirt (quite a find), make a pair of wool tuxedo pants in a color coordinating to the flower and own every room you enter.

You know, I’d love to work with wool more, unfortunately, I’m highly allergic to it. :-/
