So I now have an obsession with sewing leather. I found a supply of surplus leather at a local shop, and have been spending money on it ever since. I refined my first design by integrating the fastening straps into the belt instead of top stitching them. I used brass colored D-Rings on this one. I found that buying the proper leather needles for my machine helped a lot.

Choose thin leather and use a leather needle in your machine. My machine would go through about three layers with a little difficulty. Just experiment on a small scrap before diving in…good luck!

I really like this! If I had the money I would definitely buy it from you! I like the shape and the overlapping bits.

In the past when I sewed leather I also used a special sewing machine foot out of teflon. I think the most important thing to be succesful in sewing with leather is the motor of your sewing machine: if it is not powerful enough you get into trouble and the machine skips stiches. (right words??) However: You made your belt qiet perfect! LIKE IT!
